I am interested in how the placement and juxtaposition of color and shape creates space and content in a painting.

Materials and process build my paintings. there is an immediacy and unpredictability to my work. the paintings are not planned but evolve through the placement of sequential colors and layers, each mark and color responding to the previous one. I purposefully relinquish control over much of my process - allowing the possibility of unexpected relationships and juxtapositions of shape and color. These surprises inform both me and the painting.
